Belgian Gaming Commission say boxes flout gambling online laws

"Firstly, because players always get a specified quantity of items in each pack, and secondly and we don't provide or authorise in whatever way to cash out or sell items or virtual currency for real cash." FIFA18 player ratings Top 10

Belgian Minister of Justice Koen Geens said in April that several games – Counter Strike: Global Offensive, FIFA 19 Coins and Overwatch – were in violation on the country's gaming legislation and game developers that still did not comply could face heavy fines or maybe prison sentences.

The way loot boxes work ensures they a game of chance and for that reason constitute gambling online – a thing that is especially worrying with the amount of children that play the games. EA has previously removed paid loot boxes from Star Wars: Battlefront II whenever they proved controversial.
