The World Cyber Games committee today announced the eight games that may serve as being the battlegrounds for the 2011 WCG competition, with only two titles making the cut from this past year's batch.
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and StarCraft: Brood War will resume October's Grand Final competition in Monza, Italy. They will likely be joined by several new games, albeit largely familiar ones. Half-Life: Counter-Strike 1.6, Warhammer 40,000: Winter Assault, FIFA Soccer '06, Need for FIFA 19 Coins, and Dead or Alive 4 all replace the iterations of the respective series which were contested recently, while Halo 2 has dropped on the lineup entirely and was replaced by Project Gotham Racing 3. It makes its WCG debut together with the PGR3 and DOA4 competitions; the six other games are for PC.
The group is additionally introducing some pan-regional championship events this current year. The WCG 2006 Asian Championship will require place during June's PC Show 2006 in Singapore, as the WCG 2006 Pan-American Championship is determined for FUT 19 Coins the 2011 Electronic Gaming Show in Mexico. The returning WCG European Championship will likely be held at the 2010 CeBIT event March 9 to 15 in Hanover, Germany.
